Welcome to the Girls U18/U17 squad! This squad is open to Year 12 and 13 girls who would like to play rugby, learn new skills and be part of a great team.
The squad is coached by qualified coaches, with fixtures, first aid and team administration delivered by other volunteers. Dom Sewell leads the coaching with support from the club coaching co-ordinator and the Women's 1st XV coach.
The team play 15-a-side rugby, with an 8-player scrum on a full pitch. Matches are 35 minutes each way and involve contesting for the ball - by tackling a player, rucking over the ball or mauling it from the opposition. Lineouts are contested. World Rugby U19s variations apply. Full training will be given in all aspects of the game.
The club's ethos is to develop players to become versatile rugby players with good individual skills and a healthy team spirit. Players are expected to be respectful of one-another and to be good sports - both in defeat and in victory. The coaching team are committed to the wellbeing and long-term development of the players.
Training and fixtures are supported by a qualified first aider and there are back-up facilities in the clubhouse. For fixtures, changing and showering facilities will be dedicated for female use. The club takes it's safeguarding responsibilities seriously; all volunteers working with children undergo a DBS check and are subject to the club's safeguarding policy and procedures.
The season runs from the start of September to the end of April. The club, supported by the Rugby Football Union, is keen to encourage as many girls as possible to take up rugby and welcome new players who would like to try a few sessions before joining the club.
Training times are Wednesday evenings at 7pm and Sundays at 1pm. Fixtures will usually take place on Sundays with a 1pm or 2pm kick off.
New players (plus friends and family) are welcome to turn up to any training session. To register your interest or simply to find out more, please contact Lisa Fincken, the team administrator by emailing girls@chinnor-rfc.com.
