Match Preview

Richard Hinde-Smith17 Mar - 16:04

Congratulations on your team reaching the Oxfordshire RFU U14s or U15s finals. We are delighted to host these matches on behalf of the County and look forward to some great rugby.
This letter sets out some of the key arrangements for the day, and I would appreciate it if you could ensure that your players and parents are informed before the event.
The six matches will be played on three Grass Pitches. Pitch 1 is the main pitch and will host the Cup Finals. St Peter’s Pitch, situated through the hedge at the bottom of the main pitch, will host the Shield Finals. Pitch 3, parallel to the clubhouse, will host the Plate Finals.
6 x changing rooms will be available an hour before a team’s kick-off time. Those playing on St Peter's will use the St Peter’s pavilion whilst those on Pitch 1 and 3 will use the main changing rooms.
A representative from Oxfordshire RFU will present trophies and medals on the patio after each match. All players from that club will receive a medal regardless of whether they are in matchday 22.
We would like all players to stay for a post-match meal, which will be served in the clubhouse kitchen directly after their presentations.

Changing Facilities
Changing rooms with showers will be available for each club 1 hour before kick-off. Please note that personal belongings are left at the owners’ risk and Oxford Rugby Club does not accept any liability for lost/stolen property. There will also be changing rooms allocated for match officials.
We do ask that only players, coaches, officials, and those with a current DBS access the changing areas.
Players and Supporters Code of Conduct
During the matches, all supporters must remain behind the pitch-side fence or rope. Only designated officials, coaches, and nominated photographers will be allowed on the pitch side.
Coaches and Players, unless running touch, must stay within the marked technical area. They should only enter the field of play with the express permission of the referee. Designated First Aiders may enter the field of play to attend to a serious injury. They MUST be nominated before the game and the referee informed.
Players, coaches, and spectators should conduct themselves respectfully before, during, and after a match. No spectator, coach, or benched player should approach the referee or touch judge at any time while officiating.
Continual calls to the referee of ‘knock-on’, ‘offside’, ‘how much have you been paid’ etc are not helpful or represent the core values of Rugby Union. If said by a player, the referee will take the appropriate action as allowed by the laws of the game. If said by a spectator then the match official (or county official) will stop the game and request the appropriate coach deal with the issue. If the spectator misconduct continues the offending team coach will be warned that they risk forfeiting the match. If nothing changes, the match shall be abandoned at that point by the referee and the reason documented in a match report.
Notes: the county reserves the right to abandon a game once a warning has been given to the coaches of an offending team. In these circumstances, the non-offending team could be awarded a 42 - 0 victory.
Spectator video evidence will not be viewed during or after a game by the match officials.
Catering / Bars
Before, during, and after the matches, supporters are very welcome in the clubhouse. Tea, coffee, food, and drinks are available. Two sets of toilets are available in the clubhouse. There are outdoor tables and space inside should it rain..
Tea, coffee, hot food, and snacks will be served from 8:30 am at various outlets. The licensed bar will be open from 11:30 am.

Post-match meals for players will be served in the clubhouse after the end of each presentation. There will be no charge for post-match meals.
First Aid
Each club should bring a qualified first aider (& first aid kit) for their team. In addition, there will be two emergency first aid responders on site. The club has a medical room and a defibrillator (located on the wall outside the main entrance clubhouse). Please contact any club official if you need first aid assistance/backup.
Referees
The Oxfordshire Society of Rugby Football Referees will provide independent referees for all matches. All teams should expect to provide one touch-judge. The club will always support the referee’s decision and we would ask all players, coaches, and supporters to accept decisions made with good grace.
Trophy and Medal Presentations
A representative of Oxfordshire RFU will present the trophies and medals. Medals will be available for all members of the matchday squad. We will endeavor to provide medals to all squad members on the day, who have taken part in the competition over the season. If further medals are required for large squads, we will ensure these are provided, on request, post competition, to any club who needs more.
The intention is that presentations will happen immediately after each match; either in front of the clubhouse or, if weather dictates, inside the clubhouse. There will be plenty of opportunities for team photographs.
Conclusion
We look forward to welcoming you to Oxford RFC on 21st April for the County U14 and U15 Cup, Plate & Shield Finals. We aim to make it a great day of rugby for the 264 players involved, their families, and their friends, whatever the result. Good luck with your preparations and please do contact me if you have any questions.
