Here's your 20-man squad for tomorrow's National League 1 season opener

DIRECTOR of Rugby Richard Thorpe has announced his Chinnor side to take on Sale in the opening round of National League 1 tomorrow (3pm).

The wait is finally over as the 2021/22 season kicks off with a hotly-anticipated home fixture.

Thorpe hands debuts to James Bourton, Conor Brockschmidt, Luke Carter, Max Clementson, James Davies, Ben Glynn, Charlie Fleckney, Dean Hammond, Rob Hardwick, Soane Tonga’uiha and Fred Tuilagi.

Captain Caolan Ryan returns from injury to start at fly-half, while homegrown star George Grose is at outside centre following a strong pre-season.

In the forwards, Tonga’uiha, Fleckney and Hardwick start in the front row after impressing in last Friday’s friendly at Blackheath.

Glynn and Brockschmidt are at lock, with Willie Ryan at blindside flanker, Clementson at openside and Tuilagi lining up at No 8.

Carter continues at scrum-half after two strong performances against Carmarthen Quins and Blackheath, with Ryan returning in time for the opening league game of the season.

Hammond and Davies are on the wings, with Bourton and Grose at 12 and 13 as they look to build on their flourishing centre partnership. Oscar Heath is another player to have impressed in pre-season and he starts at full-back.

Keston Lines, Ryan Lomas, Alfie North, Jacob Ham and Will Titherington are named on the bench.

Unfortunately, Andy Berry, Ryan Crowley, Greg Goodfellow, Bradley Harewood, Max Heathman, Alex Hunt, Ben Manning, Seb Scott, Nick Smith, Cameron Terry, Tom Whitehurst, Jason Worrall and Sam Yawayawa miss out through injury.
