Dear All, after a hectic first few months of the season it’s a good opportunity to reflect and reset our aims for the run up to Christmas and the New Year.
It’s also gives me the chance to remind all our players and members of the high standards that we set ourselves at the club and the game in general. We are developing the person and not just the player, everything that we do, say and how we behave has an impact on the positive and inclusive culture we aim to nurture at Chinnor.
This is underpinned by the Rugby Football Union (RFU) core values. These are teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline, and sportsmanship:
Teamwork
Working together for the team, both on and off the field.
Respect
Respecting the sport, its values, and traditions, and earning the respect of others.
Enjoyment
Encouraging players to enjoy training and playing, and using the sport to build life skills.
Discipline
Ensuring the sport is one of controlled physical endeavor, and obeying the laws of the game.
Sportsmanship
Upholding the tradition of camaraderie with teammates and opposition, and observing fair play.
The coaches often refer to these core values as TREDS. It’s always good to re-emphasise these values with your children, asking or highlighting positive examples of them during a game or training session.
Chinnor Rugby Club is committed to promoting the welfare of all participants, and expects everyone involved in rugby and all our members to uphold these values.
I’m personally looking forward to the next two months, especially the busiest weekend of the season. 15th November is our Friday Night Lights game versus Cambridge, 16th Falcons Select XV play Oxford Uni and then the big one on Sunday, our Minis Festival!
Thank you for supporting our club and the core rugby values.
Sincerely,
Nick Stainton
Chinnor RFC Chairman
