Chinnor youngster to make step up for 2020/21

CHINNOR RFC Thame are thrilled to be able to promote Max Brewer to the Senior Squad.

The 19-year-old, who can play at either hooker or flanker, makes the step up after just one season in senior rugby.

Brewer joined the Club in 2017 and has since enjoyed three impressive campaigns in a Chinnor jersey – winning the Colts Player of the Year award in 2018/19 and the Wildboys 2.0 accolade for 2019/20.

The teenager, who also represented Oxfordshire Under 20s last season, is excited by the challenge.

Max said: “It feels amazing to have signed for the Senior Squad after only coming up from the Colts last year. It’s a massive step up and I want to test myself. Training with the Senior Squad will be great, because I like to take on advice and learn from players who have been there and done it. This is a great local Club - the people are so nice and the coaches are fantastic. Richard Thorpe has given me a great opportunity and I want to repay his faith in me.”

Chinnor RFC Thame Director of Rugby, Richard Thorpe said: “This is a great opportunity for Max to be exposed to National League 1 level rugby. We are a Club that pride ourselves in developing our community players, and it is my hope that Max will pave the way for many more of our Colts to step up in the future.”

We recently launched our Careers Hub which is designed to help players identify a career path and subsequently find them employment. If you would like further information, please email our Head of Careers, Sam Angell on s.angell@chinnor-rfc.com.
