CHINNOR RFC Thame are pleased to confirm that Matty Mountford has been appointed as Team Manager.
A popular member of the Club, the former full-back has been at Kingsey Road for eight seasons as a player and coach, making more than 150 appearances.
Matty joins Director of Rugby, Richard Thorpe and Club Captain, Bertie Hopkin in our new-look off-field management team.
The Club would like to thank Steve Trenchard for all of his hard work and effort during his time as Team Manager.
Matty, who was also Head Coach of the Falcons for four years, is looking forward to taking on the role.
He said: “I am absolutely buzzing to be part of the new management team at Chinnor. This will be my ninth season at the Club, and it is a real honour to be even considered for the role by Thorpey, and the Board. The conversations already happening about building a new culture are really exciting, and something I am passionate about helping to deliver. I really feel that together, we will develop across every aspect of this already fantastic Club. I think we have an awesome team, with Richard Thorpe and Bertie Hopkin, bringing a wealth of knowledge of rugby, but we will be working hard to make this a better place for everyone involved. On a personal note, I would like to thank Matt Williams for supporting me through the years and also Ricky Khan for all of his hard work off the field and behind the scenes. I have always had my ear to the ground, from Minis to Colts, First Team to Wildboys and Vets, Bar Staff to Friday Club and now I am relishing having an official capacity at the Club.”
Chinnor RFC Thame Director of Rugby, Richard Thorpe said: “Matty was an obvious choice for Team Manager. He has a detailed understanding of how this Club has operated in the past, and knows many of our members, youth coaches and younger players. Although his role will be to run the senior player squad, he will also be working hard to ensure every player - from Minis, Colts, all the way through to the Wildboys - have a clear line of sight to playing National League 1 rugby for Chinnor’s first XV."
