CHINNOR RFC Thame’s girls teams are going from strength to strength and they are showing no sign of stopping over the summer.
The age grade season for 2020/21 finished yesterday, with our Under 13s, 15s and 18s all playing matches throughout May.
Despite the pandemic, numbers at training have continued to grow with around 40 regularly attending on Wednesdays and Sundays.
With matches not due to start again until September, our brilliant volunteers who run the teams were keen to keep them together.
Starting from tomorrow, the girls will now continue to meet up every Wednesday for rugby fitness training, S&C, yoga and HIIT evenings as well as spin and gym sessions at Thame Leisure Centre.
Team Administrator, Lisa Fincken said: “We want to keep the girls connected.
“We managed to get in a few fixtures last month, their confidence has grown, and they’ve all made great friends.
“We’re just conscious that it’s a long time over the summer to be separated from everyone. It’s just about having fun, keeping them fit and connected, so that we are ready to go to start ramping it up in August.
“If we just stopped for the summer, it would leave a big hole in their lives and an anti-climax for them to have played a few matches and then say ‘ok, we’ll see you in September’.
“So, we’re looking forward to having fun together as a group and mixing things up a bit.”
New players, regardless of their rugby experience, are more than welcome, with girls who are currently Year 6-13 encouraged to come along to the Wednesday sessions.
