Homegrown centre re-signs for 2020/21 season

CHINNOR RFC Thame are pleased to announce the re-signing of homegrown talent George Grose.

The skilful centre has been at the Club since he was eight and becomes the third player to stay at Kingsey Road this week.

Grose made his senior debut in 2014, but a serious back injury forced him to spend a long spell on the sidelines.

The 25-year-old returned to first team action in 2018/19, featuring in the Club’s first season in National League 1, and is looking forward to being a part of the new chapter in Thame.

George said: “I’m excited, everything is very positive with the new set-up. I’ve been here since I was an Under 9 and it’s a big part of my life. You start as a junior watching the first team play and you think ‘I would love to be in that team’ and eventually you go up to senior rugby and I was able to play for the first XV - it’s great to have done that. I’m not going to be known by everyone, but it’s nice for people to know someone has gone up through the age groups and it shows our minis and juniors that they can do it as long as they work hard and have the drive. I’ve known Thorpey for a few years and it’s nice to have him back. It’s a whole new chapter and times have changed. It’s an exciting prospect and who knows when this situation will finish, but hopefully we can get some rugby started.”

Chinnor RFC Thame Director of Rugby, Richard Thorpe said: “Grosey is a player that will positively impact the culture of our squad. This is a key area of focus for Chinnor this season, and George will be a part of the glue that holds us together during the inevitable tough times of National League 1. A creative and skilful player, he will also be a competitive member of our Senior Squad."

We recently launched our Careers Hub which is designed to help players identify a career path and subsequently find them employment. If you would like further information, please email our Head of Careers, Sam Angell on s.angell@chinnor-rfc.com.
