CHINNOR Rugby Club Thame are pleased to announce that 2020 will mark the first National League game played on a Friday night at Kingsey Road.
The first team will take on Rams under the lights on January 10 in what is expected to be another exciting derby clash.
The NCA has agreed to bringing forward the fixture by a day and kick-off will be at 7.45pm.
With just one place and four points separating the sides at the moment, the stage is set for a thrilling night in Thame.
Chinnor chairman Simon Vickers said: “We were really pleased when Rams were promoted to National League 1 this season.
“We enjoy massively our travels around the country to some great locations and iconic clubs, but there is no doubt that the stakes are that much higher, the contest that much more keenly fought and any victory that much sweeter, when a side triumphs in a big derby clash.
“That is why we are so very excited to announce our first ever National League match under Friday night lights at Kingsey Road on January 10 against our long-standing local rivals Rams - formerly known as Old Redingensians.
“They are doing incredibly well so far in their debut campaign and with them nicking the reverse fixture in the last play earlier this season, the opportunity for redemption in front of what will no doubt be a great crowd will result in the kind of atmosphere that you have to be there to appreciate.
“For their part they will want to maintain their current position just ahead of us, so there is all to play for.”
More details will follow in due course.
