With the new domestic law variation around the tackle height, Chinnor were well represented on an England Rugby ‘Tackle Clinic’ course last week. This was the third of three courses laid on in Oxfordshire to up-skill coaches ahead of the new season. Expert coaching from RFU trainer Nick Todd, coupled with demonstrations, peer-reviewed questioning and some practice game play – all in extremely soggy conditions – gave the volunteer coaches knowledge, techniques and confidence to introduce the tackle height change. Coaches attended from our rising Under 9s who are introducing tackling to players for the first time, to our Under 18 Girls’ squad – and most age groups in between – the club are in good shape to see the introduction of this change to improve player safety. For senior players (male and female), there is a briefing planned from two respected society referees planned for the start of training (7pm) on Thursday 17th August.
