Saturday 5th October 2024

Last Saturday was a significant milestone in our club’s relatively short, 61 year history. And what a day it was. After the torrential rain we were all relieved to see how impressive the ground looked in the sunshine. Credit must go to everyone involved in putting on a great day. No more than our players, who kept to the script and sealed our first home Championship win with a 31-17 win against Caldy. They have started this season magnificently.

After the monumental efforts over the summer months to improve the facilities it was very satisfying to have such a crowd enjoying the match day experience. The crowd was just over 1,800 and proves how hungry Thame and surrounding villages are for high level competitive sport, particularly rugby. Thank you to everyone who attended and we hope you enjoyed yourselves, spread the word, comeback and bring an extra friend or two. Let’s see if we can beat our 2,500 record before Christmas.

To our members and season tickets holders, thank you for your loyalty, support. We are a members club, which isn’t always the case at this level, and we are a community club with a blossoming minis and juniors section drawn from all the many local schools. We’re delivering rugby coaching into some of those schools which is helping build a strong connection and affinity with the club. The support we’ve received from local businesses has been breathtaking at times and it demonstrates the goodwill and pride we share.

Let’s stick together and enjoy this landmark season. THANK YOU.

Good luck to our 4 men’s senior teams playing this weekend:
1’s away to Coventry 3pm
2’s home to Richmond Vikings 2:30pm
3’ away to Wallingford 3pm
4’s away to Aylesbury 3pm

We’re looking forward to a busy Sunday. The access roads to the overflow carpark have been improved, let’s hope they stay that way.

See you on the 19th October vs Hartpury for our 2nd ever Championship home game ?
